In this position you will:
Follow written dietary policies and procedures in compliance with state, federal and other regulatory guidelines
Follow the menu for the patients and residents according to customer needs and satisfaction to be in compliance with nutritional guidelines
Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control. Under general supervision, provides quality nutritional services
Prepare, deliver and serve foods to patients, residents and other customers while adhering to regulatory guidelines
This position cleans and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils and the kitchen and dietary area
Ensure accurate records and documentation are maintained and completed. Checks equipment, cooking area and coolers often to make sure safety requirements are maintained. Report and follow up with any issues as needed if areas are out of compliance with standards in accordance with policies and procedures
Responsible for product receiving, stocking, rotation and cleanliness of storage areas
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Specific vocational training in food or nutritional training. This training can be provided in a school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment
Certification in Food Safety and Sanitation
Six (6) months on the job training or experience in quantity food preparation in cooking, estimating food needed, requisitioning and storing food and supplies, basic principles of dietetics and principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in food handling
About the Providence Valdez Medical Center
Providence Valdez Medical Center is a 21 bed Critical Access Hospital and we employ about 100 people (87 FTE’s). Of those 21 beds, 10 are licensed Long Term Care beds and 11 are Acute/Swing Beds. We have four physicians on our active medical staff who practice out of the Valdez Medical Clinic. Our average daily census is three-four inpatients and 20-30 outpatients. Our facility contains an emergency room, labor room, post-partum, nursery, cardiac room, orthopedic, and med/surg rooms. We also have an operating room for emergency surgeries and elective procedures, C-sections, hernias and appendectomies. All our beds are licensed for “swing bed” status of which 1-3 are usually occupied.
