Providence is calling a Primary Care Registered Nurse (PVMC ICF Nursing, Night Shift, 0.90 FTE) at Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska. In this position you will:
Assist with clinical interventions and resident activities of daily living.
Provide the Primary Nurse's name card to each family/resident to promote direct access to their contact person.
Supervise overall resident care for a specific group of residents within scope of practice according to licensure.
Administer medications and treatments and provides direct licensed nursing care for a specific group of residents on a given shift.
Contact other members of the healthcare team as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska at time of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Must be proficient in medication administration
Acquired skill or ability to become proficient in IV therapy within scope of practice according to licensure
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
6 months nursing experience in a health care facility preferred (acute care, long term care, rehabilitation center)
About the Providence Valdez Medical Center
Providence Valdez Medical Center is a 21 bed Critical Access Hospital and we employ about 100 people (87 FTE’s). Of those 21 beds, 10 are licensed Long Term Care beds and 11 are Acute/Swing Beds. We have four physicians on our active medical staff who practice out of the Valdez Medical Clinic. Our average daily census is three-four inpatients and 20-30 outpatients. Our facility contains an emergency room, labor room, post-partum, nursery, cardiac room, orthopedic, and med/surg rooms. We also have an operating room for emergency surgeries and elective procedures, C-sections, hernias and appendectomies. All our beds are licensed for “swing bed” status of which 1-3 are usually occupied.
