Providence Health & Services Purchasing Representative in Valdez, Alaska
Providence is calling a Purchasing Representative (General Stores, Days, 0.5 FTE) to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska. In this position you will:
Be responsible for establishing, implementing, reviewing and updating policies and procedures for the department to be in compliance with the Providence Health and Services Region, federal, state, facility regulations and guidelines in coordination with supervisor.
Ensure that inventory levels on all stock items are consistently held at a level that facilitates adequacy of supplies and at the same time, maintains an optimal inventory turnover ratio and rotates outdated stock. This position is responsible for organizing, implementing, and reporting the physical inventory of all supplies for the facility and conducts the facility inventory process once a year.
Keep storage and supply areas neat and organized. Incoming and outgoing freight are properly handled according to policies and procedures. All items are properly ordered, recorded, marked, monitored and dispersed. Record and file current prices and shipments, and prepares and distributes supplies for storage and use. Monitor items to ensure accurate coding and pricing.
Participate in contract price negotiations to assure the best possible prices consistent with quality standards for all items purchased. This position provide adequate records and invoices to Accounts Payable and Finance to ensure timely and correct payments and processing. Weekly reports are completed accurately and timely. Tracking equipment is completed.
Review and establish Quality Improvement for the Purchasing department to ensure continued quality service and products to all patients and staff.
Coordinate the MSDS facility program. This entails being the resource to departments to update their MSDS and indexes.
All non-stock items and office supplies and forms are researched, designed, proofed and ordered. Track assets and inventory.
The Purchasing Representative is challenged to provide an adequate, cost effective supply and delivery system of equipment and supplies.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s license
About the Providence Valdez Medical Center
Providence Valdez Medical Center is a 21 bed Critical Access Hospital and we employ about 100 people (87 FTE’s). Of those 21 beds, 10 are licensed Long Term Care beds and 11 are Acute/Swing Beds. We have four physicians on our active medical staff who practice out of the Valdez Medical Clinic. Our average daily census is three-four inpatients and 20-30 outpatients. Our facility contains an emergency room, labor room, post-partum, nursery, cardiac room, orthopedic, and med/surg rooms. We also have an operating room for emergency surgeries and elective procedures, C-sections, hernias and appendectomies. All our beds are licensed for “swing bed” status of which 1-3 are usually occupied.
